Meredith May is an award winning journalist and fifth-generation beekeeper. Her latest memoir Loving Edie: How a Dog Afraid of Everything Taught Me to be Brave  is a wild and emotional memoir of family and self-discovery, featuring a lovable golden retriever named Edie. When Meredith and her wife Jenn adopt Edie, they are immediately smitten. However, problems begin to arise when it becomes apparent that Edie is an unusually anxious dog, to the point Meredith and Jenn can hardly leave the house. After a childhood of fending for herself, Meredith is unused to caring for others, but is determined to fix Edie. But what if she can't be fixed? Full of love and compassion, Loving Edie unravels the realities of being a dog owner, the bravery in loving another being, and how sometimes, we fix one another to evolve together.

May's 2019 memoir, The Honey Bus: A Memoir of Loss, Courage, and a Girl Saved by the Bees is also phenominal; part memoir, part beekeeping odyssey.
